#TravelTuesday with animals!

  • Submitted: 20th February 2018

Travel Tuesday takes us to some fine places in books but today as it appears to be #Loveyourpetday, there’s a bit of a cuddly selection of books going on here. So, if you haven’t got a pet and want to travel today, you are in luck!

So for a bit of a strange mix…take your pick….

Travel Tuesday

A Lion in Spain

Well a group of them to be fair. The Court of Lions is an ornate court in the heart of the Alhambra Palace in Granada , Spain. I was lucky enough to live here for a tome and spent every single Sunday up at this palace, taking in the views, absorbing the history and feeling amazed that I was here, where so much history had happened. It was even the home of  Catherine of Aragon for a while….she ended up going into the lion’s den as it happens didn’t she? But in this novel, there’s a lyrical story of something hidden in the palaces walls which starts off a trail of intrigue..

Leatherback Turtles in Costa Rica

A chance to see and discover a fun yet informative story about these wonderful animals in their natural habitat. It’s a  children’s story which works well with  the hero of the book fascinated with these animals and wanting to save them from poachers. A lesson we could all learn no matter what our age!

Travel Tuesday

A Camel in Kenya

If you need a pet to carry your books, then this is the perfect combination for you! A camel which walks across desert and valley to transport books to new readers. Can’t think of anything nicer really – especially as it’s a real effort by the people there to get books out to remote tribes and encourage reading and education in a country where you might there’s little available in the countryside.

A cat in Japan

This is the kind of story to warm your heart and to remember why cats adopt you rather than you adopting them. Set in Tokyo, this is a short gentle visit to Tokyo and a lyrical magical world where a cat might be the symbol of a life and existence of all of us. If the story doesn’t get you then the cover will! The green glisten of the eyes, that face, the fur that just needs to be stroked and cuddled……

Adventures of a Young Naturalist

If there’s one man who knows all about animals, pets or otherwise, and who travels across the world to some of the most stunning places there are to find them….then it’s Sir David Attenborough. This is his story and the world of animals through his eyes!
