Visit Britain have many places and sites dotted around the British Isles where you can see Britain as the way it used to be. Traditinal country villages like those in the Cotswolds, grand churches which have stood the test of time and what about a cream tea in Yorkshire? Can’t get more traditionally British than that.

What about books set around Britain though? How can you discover the past and present of Britain, its quaint habits and its countryside which has barely changed in years? What about the dark side of history when home remedies were all the range but using them got women suspected of witchcraft?
